Look at me!

We sure have been enjoying all the little things that Katy Jo now knows how to do. I will admit she is still lacking in vocabulary and, perhaps, her walking skills. But that is fine by us. We have heard her say a few words: "Dada," "yes," "hi" and she shakes her head for "no." So cute.

Katy Jo enjoys brushing her teeth, and not only brushing her hair, but scubbing it during her bath. We have seen her climb all over boxes, into baskets, and more.

She can now hold and actually drink from her sippy cup.

I have often found her in her room sitting on the floor looking through her books. Bo, proud daddy that he is, says, "That's my girl!"

At times we have caught her putting food on her spoon. :)

My all time favorite little accomplishment is her sweet ability to give smooches! We love that we daily get kisses from her. :) Makes our world seem perfect.

Katy Jo's Cafe

Ever since I had seen this fabulous birthday party, I knew I had to throw a French cafe theme party for Katy Jo's first birthday! I had a couple months to plan it and dream about it. And then, it seemed like the whole party might not be happening.
No one knew that Bo would end up in the hospital for over two weeks due to his foot infection. I for sure didn't want to have the party without him. But, at the same time, I knew it was important for all of us. I asked the doctor if Bo could please come home for a couple hours for his daughter's birthday and then two days later, we found out he could! It was the strangest feeling to anxiously await for him to come, after being gone for so long, and then to have to tell him goodbye again. Agh! Way to go, all you military wives! I couldn't do it.

Anyway, back to the party...

My friend Kristen took the train here the day before and brought all the necessary requirements to throw a beautiful party. She pretty much did the whole thing. We also had help from Gigi (she made the strawberry cake!) and Omi and Papa who carefully put together the red and white-striped awning. Also, my party-planning friend, Heidi, created gorgeous flower boxes. Bo said that these "pulled the whole thing together."
Thank you to those of you who helped throw li'l Bit an amazing cafe party. It was a good time, despite the situation with Bo's foot, and the unknowns of our future. The sun was shining, the food was yummy, and kids were playing in the yard!
